Correcting destiny’s inequalities, incrementally.
With the aforementioned objective in mind, Baijnath Foundation (BNF) organized its inaugural event, dedicated to the health of the girl child. The event focused on raising awareness among girl students on good habits for better health, as well as facilitated preliminary health check-up by experienced doctors.
Bihar is among the states with the lowest health ranking in the country. Malnutrition owing to poverty and extremely limited access to health care is a core issue in society. The severity further deepens among the female population – a major part of which is due to a number of taboos and stigmas they grow up with. Even in times of immediate medical assistance, women and girls in Bihar are unwilling to discuss their health.
BNF found a simple approach to remove this ignorance.
In association with the St. Dominic Savio’s School, BNF organized a health check-up -cum- education camp for the girl child. More than 150 girl students were examined and educated on ways to lead a healthy life. A dedicated team of 5 qualified doctors comprised of Dr. Jyotsna Sinha, Dr. Shikha, Dr. Deepak Kumar Sinha, Dr. Amit Singh, and Dr. Harendra Kumar not only did a thorough physical examination but also performed tests for hemoglobin and vision. Students expressed their gratitude to the doctors for teaching them basic steps for better health.
On the occasion of the 1st health event of BNF, the doctors and the students committed to building a healthy and growing Bihar and vowed to join our esteemed Trustees - Mr. Yateen Kumar Suman, CMT, Ms. Anjuna, Trustee, and Mr. Bhavishya Sharma, Trustee in their mission of strengthening grassroots healthcare and girl child education in the State. After the successful completion of the camp, the respected doctors were felicitated with mementos by the Trustees.
In his vote of thanks, Mr. Yateen Suman shared how he instituted the foundation, in the name of his late father Shri Baijnath Prasad, with the vision of improving the state of healthcare and girl child education in Bihar. Yateen, a Gold Medalist from IIT Dhanbad and a former officer in the Bihar Civil Services cadre, believes he owes his benevolent character and vibrant success to the soil of Bihar and wants to give back as much as in his capacity.
BNF's next event is focused on awarding scholarships to girl students from economically backward classes of society.
